Yes, You Can Have A Movie Theatre Date Night For Less Than $5

I know this is going to sound like there is some major catch, but on Saturday night my fiancé and I went to see a movie at Celebration Cinemas Studio Park location, and we got tickets, parking, popcorn, candy and a drink for less than 5 dollars.

Yes, we saw a brand new movie and ate ourselves silly for less than a Lincoln.

You're probably thinking I snuck something in, or maybe won tickets on the radio (I didn't) but, we did take creative advantage of some of their programs that can make your summer way more affordable while still allowing you to catch every movie that drops.

So, here's how we did it, and how you too can take advantage of our hack to get some entertainment this summer without going broke

1. Get the Celebration VIP Subscription

We are so lucky that the biggest movie theatre chain in West Michigan offers this deal, because if you're a movie lover you're absolutely insane to miss the deal. For $19.95 a month you can see three movies a week (including IMAX and the Getty Drive-in in Muskegon).

So, if you treat this like another Netflix style subscription, you're getting a ton of value especially during the summer blockbuster season when something new is coming out every week. If you want more details (or to sign up) you can visit their website or ask for details at any location.

*If you don't want to get the membership, or don't go to the movies often, they have what they call TACO Tuesdays (Tickets Are Cheap On Tuesdays) and you can see any money that day for only $4 per ticket.

2. Buy the seasonal popcorn bucket

You may scoff at the price when they tell you it costs $40 for a bucket of popcorn, but when you realize the value, you will be throwing money at them.

this magical plastic tub allows you free refills all season long. So, if you go to one movie per week now until it expires (Oct 31, 2022) you would only be paying $2.35 a bucket for popcorn, which is significantly less than even their smallest size. The tub itself is equal to a large popcorn, so the more movies you see (or re-watch) the more value the bucket has.

3. Use the coupons that come with your seasonal bucket

Yes, not only do you get an awesome refillable bucket, they also throw a few coupons in to say "Thanks!". On this specific night, we comboed the drink and candy coupons to make our treats half priced, and used the free butter upgrade included with our membership to make the most of our popcorn.

So yes, you do have to make a few additional investments to get your individual date night price down, but the more you love movies and see them all (even if you have to walk out of a few like we have) the more money you save on a great date night at any of the celebration locations.
