Great news for all of us dog lovers... your dog dining with you could soon be a thing!

The Michigan Senate just passed a bill that would allow you to bring your dogs to restaurants with outdoor patios.

Currently, you aren't allowed to bring animals into a food establishment (unless its a service animal) but this bill would somewhat change that. WOOD TV says that the Senate passed the law today (Wednesday) and is now headed to the House for approval.

Once passed as a law, people can bring their dogs into restaurants but with restrictions, of course. The dog would have to be leashed and would not be allowed inside the restaurant. Also, the dog would only be allowed on the floor, he or she would not be able to sit on a chair or their owner's lap. Cleanliness is also a major requirement within the bill.

However, cities and townships can pass their own ordinances in regards to it. Therefore, a restaurant has the right to deny dogs in their [outdoor] establishment.

Legislators believe this will help increase tourism.

If you think about it, in the end, everybody wins because tourism goes up which means more money for the restaurant and (essentially) the state, you get to have your dog join you while you eat AND your dog gets food from the table! See? Everyone's a weener :)
