On Wednesday, it was announced that 26 Sears stores will be closing, including the one at Woodland Mall in Kentwood.

The Sears at Woodland has been there since 1968 but once it closes it will be replaced with Von Maur, a high-end department store, based out of Iowa.

Sears currently occupies 313,000 sq. feet in the mall and 90,000 of that will be reserved for Von Maur.

Other retailers are being proposed for the rest of the space include,

Dick's Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy, REI, Kona Grill, Urban Outfitter, Timberland, Michael Kors, Lucky, Bose and Yard House."

The marketing director of the Woodland Mall said specific plans can't be revealed at the moment but they will be "enhancing the shopping experience."

Von Maur's youth store, Dry Goods, opened this past September at Woodland.

Von Maur currently has two locations in Michigan, Ann Arbor and Livonia, but this will be the first one in West Michigan.
