Why is it Taking so Long for Christine to Finish Something So Simple?

Have you ever taken so long to accomplish something? I don’t mean anything major, like a life goal but something that should take no longer than a month, a week, or even a few days.

My name is Christine and it has taken me over a year to read the same book… and I’m still not finished!

As someone who’s always enjoyed reading, I have never taken this long to finish a book. It was towards the early part of the pandemic when I decided to buy the book Little Fires Everywhere with the intention of reading it first before watching the show on Hulu. Well, here we are a year later and I still haven’t finished reading the book.

I have been reading this book consistently for over a year now. A little here, a little there, but never enough. I just pick up where I left off. Last week, laying in a 2-hour bath, was the most pages I’ve read since purchasing the book. 

Am I enjoying it? Yes. But do I want to get it over with? YES!  It has never taken me longer than a couple weeks to finish a book. At one point, I was reading 2-3 a week. 

So why has it taken me this long to try and finish ONE book? I don’t know, Click of Six. But I can’t wait for the day to tell you I did it. Let’s just hope it’s not another year from now.
